Experience
Private Car and Driver Service
The private service couldn’t be more straight forward, Roberto picks you up when and where you want, and then take you to the destination and return whenever you want. Most clients look for suggestions on itineraries to make the most of the service and the location they’d be visiting. Timing is also Roberto’s expertise, as some destinations should be visited at different times of the week to maximize your experience.
Roberto and his guides are very familiar with the surrounding villages of Oaxaca City, where you’ll see and experience the food, arts and crafts that make Oaxaca different from any place in the world. In a typical tour featuring the wood carvings (alebrije) and rug weavings of Oaxaca, Roberto will pick you up and within 30 minute, you’ll be experiencing the most talented artists of the central valley’s surrounding Oaxaca City. The pottery and mezcal producer’s villages’ are also an attraction not to be missed, as they have been producing their wares the same way they were produced 600 years ago. Some of the latest attractions that most tour companies will not take you too are the local up and coming contemporary artist and their workshops in the surrounding villages.
Long range destinations, such as the coast or the high altitude pine forest of the Sierra Sur, are challenging to get to by public transportation or rental car, as the roads are dangerous and unmarked. Roberto and his guides specialize in trips to the Oaxacan coast, Chiapas, Puebla and Mexico City. Timing is generally the key in these farther destinations, as safety comes first in Roberto’s services and consultation is generally required.
Cultural Walking Tours
The walking tour departs from the Zocalo at a time convenient for you and generally lasts 2-3 hours. This service is also a private service that is catered to your interests and can range from cathedrals/ museums tours to market tours or anything that interests you. Please keep in mind that cathedrals and museums have their own tour guides as in most countries’ national treasures. Typical market tours range from arts and crafts, such as pottery, rug weaving shops, Oaxacan wood carvings to contemporary art galleries. The food of Oaxaca has always been in the spotlight of world cuisine. A typical “food tour” hits all the famous markets of the city, focusing on Oaxacan moles, chocolate, cheeses and typical cuisines of the surrounding villages. The vast varieties of Oaxacan food can be attributed to the many different pre-Hispanic groups that have occupied this area for thousands of years. Roberto and his staff have done their homework on the attractions of Oaxaca City, so please let him design a tour for you.
Pricing
Due to the vast private car and driver service possibilities (destinations, duration and number of people in your group) please call or email your personalized tour ideas to Roberto and he’ll get back to you immediately. Generally the walking tours start at $25 per tour and maybe you need us to simply take you to and from the airport, he’ll do it for the price that a taxi will charge.
